There was a righteous man in a village, he used to worship Allah Almighty a lot and disliked disbelief and polytheism. There was a tree in this village, some people of the village used to worship this tree, some people told this righteous man about it, he got very angry and set out to cut this tree.
On the way, he met a devil, that devil was in the form of a man at that time, the devil asked him: Hey man! Where are you going? He replied: There is a tree in such and such a place, people worship it, I am going to cut it. The devil taught him a lesson: Brother! You do not worship it, then what is wrong with you? Do not cut it. The man replied: I will definitely cut it.
Afight broke out between the two over this matter, the righteous man threw the devil to the ground. The devil said: Leave me, I want to talk to you; So he left the devil, then the devil said to him: Look, the truth is that cutting the tree will not benefit you; so do not cut the tree, we will give you two dinars (two gold coins) every day, you will benefit from that. The man said: Where will we find those coins? The devil said: When you wake up in the morning, take it from under your pillow, the man agreed to this and returned from there. When the morning came, he really found two dinars (two gold coins) from under his pillow, he was very happy; but the next morning he did not find anything under his pillow, then he got angry and went out to cut the tree, on the way he met the same devil again, he asked: Hey man! Where are you going? He said: I am going to cut this tree, the devil said: You cannot cut it. And saying this, the devil threw the man to the ground and climbed on his chest and started strangling him. Then the devil said to the man: Do you know? I am the devil? The first time you went out to cut a tree, your intention was to please Allah; that is why you threw me, now you have gone out to cut a tree because you did not get two dinars, now your intention has changed; that is why you are in this situation today.
This is called “As is the intention, so is the blessing”. Therefore, see, whatever you do, do it to please and please Allah Almighty, do not have any greed in it, Allah Almighty is angry with this.
